Series of pictures and videos depicting all eight major planetary bodies of our solar system in different architectural spaces.
Intended as a creative approach to scientific communication, the sceneries reflect the planets‘ characteristics. From bright to dark. From heat to cold.

What goes up must come down.

Mars, where did your water go? The Late Heavy Bombardment (LHB) caused deep impact craters and maybe antipodal volcanoes like Olympus Mons, highest mountain of the solar system.

Touched by a vitalizing breeze of air.

Our precious home planet to scale. 1:10.000.000 which is a diameter of 1,27 meters. Bigger than Mercury and Venus, but still fits in this classic room.

Neptune lurking in the cold dark.

The outermost known planet of our solar system. Almost a twin to Uranus in size, but even farther away, it takes 165 years to orbit around the sun.

Saturn makes the sparks fly.

Did you notice how Saturn is not even spherical but flattened at the poles and bulging at the equator? The beautiful rings add to that impression, too.

Jupiter clearing out the fumes.

The largest planet in our solar system. Ganymede – one of Jupiter’s moons – even has a diameter greater than planet Mercury.

Lights on Uranus

Unlike all other planets in our solar system, the axis of rotation of Uranus is tilted 97,77° – so it is orbiting the sun like a rolling ball with it’s poles facing to the sides.

Flying too close to the sun.

Mercury is a really tiny chunk, barely bigger than Earth‘s moon. Fits that bright, hot and dry inner courtyard with being the nearest planet to our sun and almost melting at 427 °C.
